Teaching & Learning Conference Australia & New Zealand 2019 (TLCANZ19)
By registering for the TLCANZ19 (the “Event”), a three-day user conference hosted by Blackboard Inc. (“Blackboard”), You consent to the following Terms and Conditions:
Each registration for the Event includes access to the following for one (1) registered attendee (“Attendee” or “You”):
- General session keynotes
- Breakout sessions
- Exhibit stands during open hours
- Conference provided meals (Includes breaks and lunch for TLC attendees Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
- Welcome reception for TLC attendees (Tuesday)
- Conference Social for TLC attendees (Wednesday)
Registration for the Event does NOT include any hotel lodging, airfare costs, workshops that have additional associated costs, any private co-located meetings, or any programs or private evening activities that are by invitation only.
Attendee Information and Data Collection
By registering for the Event, You consent to Blackboard`s collection and storage of the information provided on the registration form and any information provided while at the Event, including but not limited to, session scanning (“Attendee Information”) in the United States and elsewhere in the word and to Blackboard’s use of such Attendee Information for the following purposes:
- To organise and conduct the event (which involves sharing the necessary information with our suppliers that perform services related to the event)
- To further improve the delivery and organisation of this and future events by gathering and using data on event and session attendance
- To send you information about the event, including logistics, promotions and surveys
- To send you information about other Blackboard organized events and events that Blackboard is contributing to
- For promotional and marketing purposes
In addition, You consent to Blackboard providing the Attendee Information to Event Sponsors (“Sponsors”) and other Event Attendees unless You opt out. You agree that Attendee Information about other Event Attendees collected by you at the Event is to be used for networking purposes only and providing or selling this information to data brokers or other third parties is expressly prohibited.
Sharing your information within Blackboard and with others
We will share the above-mentioned information with other Blackboard teams around the globe where necessary to achieve the purposes listed above.
If you are located in the European Union or other regions with data transfer restrictions, please note that we may transfer information, including your personal information, to a country and jurisdiction that are not considered to have data protection laws equivalent to your jurisdiction. Blackboard is Privacy Shield certified and additionally uses EU-approved standard contractual clauses to legitimately transfer EU personal information to the US and other jurisdictions that are not considered equivalent.
We may share limited information such as your name, role and company with our event sponsors and partners. We will not share your contact details with them.
We may use third parties to make event-related mobile applications available to you. These third parties will use your information under our instruction and for the purposes listed above. In addition to this Privacy Statement, the mobile application providers may have their own Privacy Statements that explain how they collect and use your information to provide their service to you and us.
We may also use other third parties to assist with this event and may share your information with them where necessary for the third party to support the event. Our contracts with third parties require them to only use your information as instructed by us and to keep it confidential.

Audio / Video / Photography Disclaimer
From time to time, Blackboard and/or its contractors will record, photograph and/or stream the various aspects and activities of the Event, for both archival and promotional purposes. By attending the Event, You grant to Blackboard, its contractors, and their respective assigns the absolute right and permission to use Your name, voice, photograph and/or likeness in any and all advertising and promotional materials, in any manner or media whatsoever, for purposes of advertising, trade or promotion; and the absolute right and permission to use Your name, photograph and/or likeness, and voice as recorded on the footage and/or photographs featuring Your participation at the Event. You acknowledge and agree that You shall have no right of approval, no claim to any compensation, and no claim arising out of the use, alteration, or distortion of Your name, photograph, video or film image, or likeness. You further grant to Blackboard permission to use Attendee Information and/or any feedback You provide for marketing and promotional purposes. Attendees Recording: Attendees Audio / Video / Photography Policy
By registering for the Event, You consent to this Attendees Audio/Video/ Photography Policy. Photography and/or recording (including audio and video) during the Event is allowed for personal and private use only. All other uses of recorded content at the Event must be pre-approved by Blackboard before use. Photos and/or recordings may not be copied, altered, sold, exhibited or further distributed without Blackboard’s prior written consent. Blackboard reserves the right to revoke consent. Blackboard reserves the right to make changes to this policy at any time.
Conflicts of Interest
You agree that are fully aware of, and have complied or will comply with, all ethical obligations and any other restrictions placed on You by Your employer(s) and any other organizations with which You are affiliated, with respect to Your attendance of the Event, Your participation in promotions/contests at the Event, and Your acceptance of giveaways at the Event by Blackboard or any Sponsor. You agree that there are no issues or conflicts barring You from attending the Event. You understand that it is solely Your responsibility, and not that of Blackboard, to ensure Your compliance with any such ethical obligations or restrictions.
Cancellations received on or before 27 July in accordance with this Cancellation Policy will be eligible for a refund of the Conference Fee, less $100 to a Processing Fee (“Processing Fee”). Any cancellations received after 27 July, are not eligible for a refund of any Conference Fees. Cancellations must be submitted via email to Event Headquarters at firstname.lastname@example.org. Phone cancellations will not be accepted. There are no exceptions to this Cancellation Policy.
Refunds will be provided based on type of payment received for the Conference Fee; credit card refunds will be processed within approximately three (3) business days and cash refunds within approximately ten (10) business days.
Blackboard reserves the right to cancel any Event related program and assumes no responsibility for any personal expenses incurred by any Attendee in connection with such cancellation.
Replacement Attendees from within Your institution or organization will be accepted at no cost. Please email the original Attendee’s first and last name, institution and registration confirmation number to email@example.com, along with the substitute Attendee’s name and email address. Upon the approval of the original Attendee, the substitute Attendee will be emailed a registration form to complete.
The Conference Fee for the original registration must be paid in full before it can be transferred to a substitute registration. Only one substitute per original registration will be allowed.
Registration Materials Handling
All correspondence related to the Event will be handled electronically at the email address provided on the registration form. Event registration materials and information will not be mailed. Some materials related to content presented onsite will be provided in hard-copy format at the Event.
For security purposes, You must be prepared to show government-issued photo identification to pick up Your badge at the registration desk.
No one under the age of 18 is permitted to attend events where alcoholic beverages are served. Blackboard or its contractors reserve the right to require proof of your age prior to admittance.
Right of Refusal
Blackboard reserves the right to deny registration to any individual, attending group, or entity for any reason, at Blackboard’s sole discretion, including for past or present failure to meet Blackboard standards of conduct (including, but not limited to, engaging in violent, illegal, threatening, or discriminatory conduct).
Limitation of Liability
You agree that You will not hold any of Blackboard Inc., or any of their respective affiliates, officers, directors, agents, employees, clients or representatives, liable for any claims arising from or related to Your participation in the Event including, without limitation, claims based on or for loss of, or damage to, Your property, libel, slander, defamation, invasion of privacy/publicity, portrayal in a false light and any claim relating to the exercise of the rights granted above, except for claims for personal injury or death caused solely and directly by the willful misconduct of such party. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL ANY SUCH PARTY BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR INDIRECT DAMAGES.
